Nepal huh!!!
Let's see…
Truly the top of the world.
It has been a great month. So memorable.
The terraced rice field stretching out as far as you can see.
Our incredible contacts that have the most amazing servant hearts I've ever seen in my life.
I've learned so much from them it's hard to express
Selflessness on a level I've never seen before
You look out and see mountains and then you notice REAL mountains behind… covered white… each peak taller than the highest peak we have in North America.
Truly massive mountains.
This is the Himalayas…
The kids are the cutest as usual…
Saying hello from the rooftops, you glace up searching for where the tiny voice came from
Hands together and a sincere "Namaste" is the routine here
What we probably didn't know about Nepal…
As my friend's contact put it….
"We throw our trash in the rivers and don't smile when we have our picture taken"
Yes, this is true.
Kathmandu is tremendously polluted. Quite tragic actually.
We are blessed to live just outside the city center, but when we return you can wipe the dirt off your face from the air.
And yea… that is a true statement.
The trekking industry is causing havoc with the environment in the mountains regions, the pollution, trash, etc.
Random Thoughts…
Oh… the other day, put on my backpack, walked downstairs, looked out the window and next door was a family, out in front of their house, a goat was being held out by its head and all fours, then I notice the man with the giant machete standing there, we all huddled up to the window… anxious but can't look away… up goes the machate and in one quick swing… OFF GOES THE HEAD… Blood spurts all over the place.
The head over there, the body over here, blood draining into a ceremonial bowl type thing, this is my life!
Funny thing is… It's been about 290 days so far… and I forget things just like this every day. I saw 7 goats standing on top of a bus the other day, that would be where you put your luggage, and if goats are your luggage….
I held a chicken the other day, ate it the day after. I meet kids every day and laugh and make jokes. I meet adults that are so gracious and caring and will hang out in their shop for an hour and drink tea. Why not?
I'll be sitting in the back of church and a minute later be asked to share a word…
here I am, staring out at 50+ Nepali faces and smiles…
Life is SO good.
I am the luckiest man in the entire world.
Thank you so much for helping make this happen.
Thank you for being part of my life
Thank you so much for loving me all the days that we've known each other.
And this is truly…. only the beginning…
