Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

That is a verse that I have been really trying to focus on, the world race can be a scary thing if you think about it. Being gone for 11 months in a bunch of foreign countries, trying to raise all the money to go, and hoping to be a help to your team. There can be a lot of stuff to worry about. Yet, God is the one who called me on this trip, so why do I worry about these things? I think the answer is quite simple, I am leaning on the understanding of humans.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Probverbs 3:5

I have known that verse for a very long time, and yet I always seem to forget it, there have been so many times in my life where God took care of me, and yet, the next time something big comes up I tend to be scared and worry. I used to think the people of Israel were dumb for doing the same thing all throughout the old testament. Now in some ways I understand, while we see the things God does, somewhere in our “knowledge” convince ourselves that He can’t or won’t do it again. Of course Jesus knew people and the bible tells us how much God cares.

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Matthew 6:26

We are made in God’s own image, he put us in charge of the world and everything in it so we must be more valuable to him then the birds. And he loves the birds and takes care of them. There is so much proof that God will take care of me. I was moving from Alabama to Washington State, it was nearly a 4000 mile drive and it was the middle of winter, however I set off and listened to some Christians books on cd on the way. God and I talked a lot on the trip, it was an amazing experience. I was just gotten into Utah and the snow was coming down hard and there was ice everywhere. I was going at least 20 miles an hour under the speed limit and felt fairly safe, I have lots of experience driving in snow, having grown up in Ohio. I came up on a semi who was going slower then me and I thought I would pass him, as soon as I got in the other lane I could tell it was 100 times worse, I tried to get back in the right lane but it was to late. I started to fishtail and in a few seconds I was spinning and I knew I was going to crash , but somehow I also knew that I was going to be okay. I kept spinning and went right over a hill the lead to a on ramp, it was about a 15 foot hill and I hit it perfectly in a way that I did not roll. When I hit the on ramp there was a big crash noise and sparks flew up everywhere, the car moved over to the other side of the ramp and stopped. Just like I knew, I was okay, and even all my stuff in my car was fine. My car however was totaled, but that was nearly nothing in comparison to what could have been. Not only could I have rolled over the hill, but 10 feet from where I stopped was a 30 foot drop into a river. If I had crashed in any other way then the way I did I would be dead.

So all I know is if God can move a car around to keep me from dying, then he can help me raise the money, he can be my comfort when I am so far from home, and he will use me to reach his people.
