I have yet to meet any of my squad mates in person yet, but already I feel like they are family. It started out with us just meeting one another through video chat, and there was already a bond there, God was already working in our lives. As we chatted in video or on facebook more we learned more about each other and started to open up ourselves to each other. Everyday I could feel a stronger bond with them, and didn’t feel odd calling them my brother or sister, and I have come to the understanding that I don’t feel odd saying that is because they are my siblings in Christ.
We are all the adopted children of God and everyone who has accepted God as the Lord and their father becomes a part of the family and a part of the body of Christ. I am starting to see the unity that God planed, for us to lift one another up and love each other unconditionally, just like God loves us. For us to work with one another sharing God’s mercy and glory to the world.
The problem I see is in today’s american churches, there is a major disconnect. I see people more worried about what denomination you are more then if you are a believer, I have even seen people who just became Christians, fall away from God because a family member tells them that they are not a real christian because the go to ‘Such and so church’. It is a real shame that here in the states we can’t be one body, and then we wonder why the country has so many problems. I pray that our eyes are opened as we see that our petty differences are getting in the way of what God wants to do in our lives and in our country.
I encourage all that read this blog to learn how to be the body of Christ, and how we can be one unit, just like my amazing siblings in the world race and I are learning. I leave you with a picture of some of the amazing people I get to spend 11 months with.
