This has been a really good month for us in ministry. We are in a town of about 7,000 people, that do not speak any or very good English. That has been one of the biggest struggles this month for us.
This month we were connected with a church that is very small and traditional. They told us that we were going to teach English and do a VBS (Vacation Bible School) each day. The first week was just English classes and sports. It was really fun. English class was from 3:00 to 5:00 every day. Each evening, around 7:00 pm, we played sports with the locals. I really enjoyed that because we got to be in the community, meeting people that where not coming to English class or VBS. We did that for the first week only.
The second week of ministry was both English class and VBS. VBS was from 10:00-1:00 pm, English class was the same time and we would have evenings off. Days were longer with VBS but we had a really good time ministering to the children. We talked about Hero’s of the Bible; Noah, Joseph, Daniel, David, Esther, and Jesus.
It was awesome to see the kids grow the two weeks, both in English and in relationships with us. This month has been a really good one for the team. We have been by ourselves this month. There have been ups and downs but growth within the team.
As we are leaving this ministry there are some prayer request that are needed for the church. The Pastor of the church, named Sergey, needs prayer for both his family and his ministry. In Ukraine, they do not get paid very much or not at all by being in a ministry. So, there is a need for him with money. This ministry is hard to leave. Getting to know the youth and some of the church members, there have been relationship built that are hard to say good bye to. It has been a really good month of ministry and hope God keeps blessing us with ministries that we can build relationships with and be blessed by.
