While in Kenya our team would go to the hospital every week to pray for the sick. It was really cool to see God work both in healing and in the joy it brought the people we prayed for. Our first week we met a little boy hooked up to an IV with no mom. We could see every bone in his little 8 month, malnourished body. When visiting the hospital the next week we got to see him again and he was doing better! He was awake, alert and we got to know more of his story. His mom couldn’t take care of him anymore she threw in a toilet. The police found him and arrested his mom, brought him to the hospital. The police decided that it was better for her to be with her son then in jail but when they let her go to the hospital she ran away and disappeared, leaving him an orphan. That day, looking him in the eyes, God put adoption for this sweet, lonely, Kenyan boy on my heart. I prayed and prayed that God would show me the way and bring Joe to the same passion as me. God answered the later in awesome splendor and the first has been step by step and day by day. Joe and I are 100% sure that adopting a little boy from Kenya is what God has for us after we get done with the race. It is going to be a long and pricy process, including spending about a year in Kenya but we are SO excited to see what God will do for and in us as we continue to pursue Him with our hearts and lives.
