What Up, Blog World?!
I’m coming to you from the magical land of THAILAND! My team and another team are living in the beautiful city of Mae Sot this month. It’s on the border of Thailand and Burma. We are all working with a ministry here called Outpour. If you want to know more about the ministry, check out their website here. They really have their hand in quite a few things. They have a burger restaurant, a bike shop, a church, and a few other projects that are coming up. The staff at Outpour are awesome and all have such a heart for the Lord and to serve however He sees fit. It’s always so cool to see so many people with a fire for Jesus and to make His name known to the nations.
So, since our ministry owns a bike shop, we all got issued a bike for the month to ride around on. I will be real, after a couple months of not being able to leave your house and not really be outside, getting to ride a bike feels AMAZING! I feel like a kid again just cruising around on my bike. We ride everywhere and I may or may not have ran into a parked van on the first day here. Don’t worry, I am fine. I did put a huge scratch in the van though. Whoops!
So far this month, and I think for the rest of it, we are working on some building projects for the ministry. Like I said, they have their hands in quite a few projects. I’m so glad we are here to help them out and get some of that tedious manual labor out of their way, so they can continue on with their projects. We have been working outside, all day everyday. It feels so nice to get to be outside all day and have tasks set before you. It is HOT in Thailand and extremely humid. So we are all pouring in sweat constantly. I don’t hate it though.
Oh yeah, also, all 13 of us are sharing a bathroom. And I live on the 3rd tier of a bunk bed. I love it. I feel like I’m at church camp all the time. Also, shout out to church camp. I’m convinced the Lord prepared me for the Race by letting me be a sponsor at church camps for all those years. I may have yelled at my girls all the time for leaving their crap all over the bathroom, but now, I’m not even phased by it. Okay, lets be real…I am a little. But I’ve learned to ignore the mess and not freak out.
Like I said, Thailand is magical. The people are so kind and loving. I’m just honored to be here and be used by the Lord this month. I pray every day for my heart to break for the things His heart breaks for. I want to see His people here and back home the way that He sees them. I want to have a heart for His people here and back home like His. I hope my team and I continue to be a light for Him.
It’s bittersweet to think that I go home next month. I actually get to come home on my sweet sister’s birthday. I can’t wait to smother her with love (She’ll act annoyed but secretly she loves it). The World Race has been one of the best and one of the hardest things I have ever experienced. I am so glad the Lord saw it fit for me to come on this trip. I am, however, excited to get to stop living out of a backpack and moving all the time. The Lord has taught me so much about myself and about Him. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Oh, also, who would have thought that the best coffee we have found on the Race would be in Asia? I don’t know. But it’s here. And I’ve found it. And I can’t stop.
So, once again, thanks for listening to my ramblings. I’ll catch ya on the flip side….meaning the end of the month when I remember to blog again 🙂
