I love a good visual and so I may have taken our team name to the extreme but here are some fun facts about the camel:
* they thrive in desolate areas
* can travel long distances
* they are docile and sweet under a caring hand
* there are entire cultures with the camel at its core
* they are known as the ship of the desert because they use both legs on one side at a time to walk
* completely silent when it walks or runs
* their thick wool makes they appear larger – both soft and strong
* they have callous like pads on their knees – a cushion for when they kneel
* 2 rows of eyelashes and 3 eyelids – the third goes from side to side like a windshield wiper to brush away sand – allows the animal to see well enough to keep walking in a snadstorm
* camels don’t sweat
* long and hard gestation period – 14 months
and perhaps my favorite,
* in the heat of the day, a group of camels press against each other because their body temperatures are lower than the air temp
There are many spiritual parallels laced in these facts – I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!
