It was Thursday, October 11 and I felt that it would be an
awesome day. We had been going to Backdoor and to Village of Hope this week for
our ministry and I had really been encouraged by who we were meeting and what
we were doing. We got into Backdoor by morning time and walked to Village of
Hope to the preschool. We hung out at the preschool for a bit and played with
the kids until Pastor Jeffrey arrived. He soon did and we headed out to do some
house visits.
It was awesome to be with Pastor Jeffrey. He is an amazing
man of God and is well known in the community. Lots of people know who he is,
even if he doesn’t know them. The first lady we prayed for was 90+ years old
and had trouble walking. We had seen her earlier this week and prayed for her and
she was now doing much better. She hopped out of the bed after we prayed for
her today and walked a few steps to show how well she was doing. She did a
little jig to express her appreciation to us and to God. We were so happy for her!
Then we walked across the street because some women were
hollering at me. One lady lived there; the other was her friend visiting from
Johannesburg. The lady that lived there
had two children, but no husband anymore. Also, one of her sons had chicken
pox. Pastor Jeffrey told her directly that we need to pray for both these
issues, but she wanted none of it. She declined prayer and we moved on. It
happens. We still prayed for them both after we walked a bit down the road.
Ahahaha J
We began to walk and then I spoke my mind.
“I feel like we’re going to see something big. Like we’re going
to see a blind person! Pastor Jeffrey, are there any blind people here in the
local community?”
Pastor Jeffrey replied, “Yes there is, but the blind man lives
very far, we don’t have time to walk there today.”
We respected this and continued walking the opposite
direction of where the blind man lived. We walked about 45 more minutes along
the rocky terrain before reaching a husband and wife, two children, and an
older woman sitting beside them. Approaching closer, we realized that, yes, she
was blind. One eye was completely gone, while the other was at about 25%.
She spoke Afrikaans, which is cool because I speak decent
Dutch. Since the languages are very similar, I was able to comprehend a
majority of what she was saying. It was so hilarious because Ashley and Amy
thought that I also had the gift of tongues because of my understanding, before
Angela pointed out to them the language similarities.
It was such a blessing to be able to be able to spend time
with this woman. She was saved, but living house to house as neighbors were
taking care of her. She was very very old and had a wrinkly face. Her face had
tears running down it and she became very emotional after Amy told her that I
had prophesied that we would see a blind person today. This must have made her
feel so special.

We prayed for her: her vision, faith, housing situation, and
heart. She stated that after us praying for her she began to see better in her
one decent eye. God has definitely started the healing process and I can’t wait
until I see that she is completely, 100% healed. We will see her again next
week and I look forward to it.
The next day was even better. The plan was to paint and clean
up the Bible College. We ended up doing entirely different things. We attended
a memorial/funeral service for an 18 year old girl who had died due to illness
the previous week. We arrived at 9:30AM, but the service didn’t start until
11:00AM. Pastor Jeffrey, Angela, and I left the church to get some things in
order for the daily 3PM feeding at Village of Hope.
When we were finished with that, however, the service still
hadn’t started. Pastor Jeffrey decided that we had time to visit the blind man
that he had mentioned the other day. We walked about 7KM away through hills and
grass to see this man. He was 101 years old according to his grandson. He had
been blind for 10 years and tried traditional ways to heal his eyes. Long story
short, we told him about Jesus and he decided to give it a try. He accepted
Christ into his heart and believed that day. It was remarkable to me that he
decided on the spot to try God and rebuke any other beliefs he previously had.
Two blind people in two days.
Two visits.
Two stories.
Amazing faith from both the woman and the man.
God is good.
