Today, we went to Aristotle Square to do some public worship and to hold up signs that read “Free Prayer” and “Jesus Loves You” in our best attempt at the written Greek language. We knew parts of the day would be tough; between the one hundred-plus degree heat, the strangers who walked by snickering at us, and the one (count em’… one) person who allowed us to pray for them, the day could have easily felt like one huge let-down. However, the word “willing” had been prayed over the day, and we knew that our job was not to win converts, but simply to bring the sweet name of Jesus to a public area through song and prayer. We plan to go back to the same place with the same signs and probably face the same jeers and pointing fingers, but remembering that any persecution or trials we may face for the Word of God are nothing compared to His love for us and the people here in Thessaloniki.
