Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Joané Erasmus and I was born in Pretoria, South Africa. I have been blessed with two of the most amazing parents I could have ever asked for, and a younger brother who I love to spend time with. When I was 11 my family and I moved to Wellington, New Zealand where I have been living for the last 10 years. My parents and brother however moved to Abu Dhabi about 3 years ago. Many times I have been asked the question where is home? I have come to answer that question with some Jack Johnson lyrics: “Home is wherever we are if there is love there too”.

After high school I went to study a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Criminology at Victoria University of Wellington.  During my time at University I have been involved in Student Life which is one of the Christian groups on campus. Through my involvement I have learned and grown so much in my relationship with God. I was able to co-lead a women’s Bible study through which I learned a lot from the other women. During my time at university I had an amazing opportunity to do a mission trip in Fiji along with Student Life, and also a volunteer trip to Ecuador. I go to the Street City Church in Wellington and have the privilege of serving in the children’s ministry each Sunday where I get to co-lead the year one and two boys small group. My favorite part about this is when they understand something new about God.

I am happiest when I can be outside in the sunshine. Some of my favorite things are the beach, swings, tea, adventures, music, laughing, traveling, learning about different cultures and spending quality time with friends and my family.  Afrikaans is my first language and I am excited about learning some Spanish. I am forever thankful for everything that God has done for me and love Him so very much! I am incredibly excited for this adventure that He is taking me on and can’t wait to serve Him.
