Story #2 “The Woman in Los Pinos”:
On our last day in Honduras we went to Los Pinos, where the boys in our ministry are from, and we visited with their families. We went in a rotation to seven houses and each team had a different thing they were going to do with the families. My team decided that since the majority of families don’t have a male figure present and the women take care of everything that we would share stories of incredible women of faith in the Bible. So our first house was Carlos and Fernando’s, two of the boys in our ministry, grandmother’s house. Her name was Mina and she was an incredibly sweet woman who welcomed us into her one room home with loving arms. Well to start off our visit with Mina we decided to give an opening prayer, which I volunteered to give. I started to pray and when I asked God to fill this place and our hearts with His Spirit, Mina dropped to the ground and started reaching for us as if she were in horrible pain. At first we weren’t sure if she was having a seizure or a heart attack, but we continued to pray for her. She kept clawing at us and trying to reach out for help, so we held her hands and head and continued to pray for about 45 minutes. Then all of the sudden she seemed to return to the way she was when we entered the house. So we lifted her up and put her in her bed and started to ask her what had just happened. She went on to tell us that she had been very ill and unable to leave her house for a few months now, and that it felt like her stomach was full of air and pressure. When we asked her how she was feeling now she said that she had been healed by God but the way she put it was strange. She said that whatever had been inside her had finally left her body and gone out the window, and that now she felt at peace. That phrase struck us all as a little strange because we weren’t exactly sure what had just happened. Did God just heal her from a sickness or was there something else inside of her like a dark spirit? Only God and Mina know for sure what happened but what I know is that something had been afflicting this woman and through our prayer God had gotten rid of it. So we continued to pray for peace and healing over Mina, and I asked God to leave His Spirit in this place with her and to protect her always from anything that was not of Him. I have never experienced anything like that before in my life, and it was a life changing moment for me. It made me realize that because my faith is in God my words carry major weight and that when I pray things happen. It also showed me that this war everyone has said we entered is very much real and that I’m very thankful to have the strongest army ever behind me 100%. In the Bible it talks about when Lucifer and 1/3 of the angels fell, but that means that 2/3 of the angels remained in Heaven. So if you think about it angels out number demons 2 to 1. When I think about it like that I have absolutely no fear about stepping out into battle.
