This month my team and I have been working in Malawi which they call the warm heart of Africa. Some teams ventured north, some south, and some even to the lake, but my team stayed in the capital, Lilongwe. We have had the amazing opportunity to work with Pastor Blessings. He is one of the most incredible, compassionate, and passionate men I have ever met. His heart for the people in the villages and the people who are the least of these will take you by surprise. He wants everyone to truly know the love and mercy of the Lord.

Here is a little summary of our month.

We have had the opportunity to meet and work with 2 different groups of widows. These ladies are all so amazing. We sing, dance, share testimonies and the word with them. Both groups of women have taught me to have joy no matter what and to always be thankful in all seasons of life. They support themselves by sewing headbands, aprons, and purses that they sell in the community and to groups like us that come to visit them.

Another wonderful part that we get to play every single day on our way to ministry or at ministry is loving on children! We have taught bible stories and have sung songs in classrooms at primary and secondary schools this month.

Many people helped give to one of the most exciting parts of ministry this month which was purchasing and handing out Bibles to people who have never had Bibles before. We traveled 3 hours in the back of a small pick up truck one Sunday to a village in the mountains. There we were greeted with singing by lots of children from the village. It was a beautiful time that we spent there. We handed out 67 Bibles in the village that day.

We have ministered to a boys soccer team as well. They are in an area not far from where we are living. They meet Tuesday – Friday for practices and then play games against other teams from other areas on the weekends. Many of these boys do not go to school or work so this program set up by Athletes in Action helps keep the boys away from drinking, drugs, prostitution, and fighting. Many of the boys that come have given their lives to Christ and we were able to share our testimonies with them and spend time praying for each one!

We celebrated the 4th of July together as a squad and with our Exposure teams that joined us for the month. We grilled hamburgers, made baked beans, potato salad, and even had s’mores. We have had the chance to try many local foods this month as well such as roasted maize, chambo (fish), field mice, raw sugar cane, and a few other delicacies.

The landscape in Africa is amazing. We have loved the views here, the stars in the night sky, and the sunsets. If you haven’t seen an african sunset, then you haven’t seen a sunset.

That is just a small summary of our month. Malawi is a beautiful country and the people are so friendly. We have enjoyed every minute of it. The Lord is working here and there are wonderful ministries and churches here continuing the work.Ndimakukondani ( I love you all )
