Today I have been so reminded of a word that was spoken over me months before I left for the World Race.
Always be yourself, don’t let what other people have make you want to be them.
God did not make me or anyone else on my team a different person. God made each of us individually with our faults, weaknesses, and strengths. God longs to use each of us to do his work in the was He designed for each of us. God will continue to change us and shape us as we are willing, but we cannot take it upon ourselves to make our being that of another person. If we allow God to take us deeper in understanding and a stronger walk with Him, He will meet us and change us as needed.
Gracie gives the analogy of the clay pot. What happened when you drop a clay pot? It shatters into pieces. When you take the clay pot and piece it back together, there are cracks everywhere, maybe even pieces missing. This clay pot resembles our lives. If you when take a candle and put it inside of the pot, where does the light come from? The light will always shine through the cracks. Those cracks are the difficult times, faults, and mistakes in each of our lives. Only God can put us back together and allow the light which is His love and joy to shine through us. The light will shine through the cracks in your life. Be the version of you that God made you to be, not the one he made the person next to you. His love for you will never change because of something you did or did not do. Our faults and cracks may be that one thing that relates us to someone else.
“Let your light shine” –Matthew 5:16
