This week, Chad, Jake, Allison and I convened in Bangkok to welcome the “D-Squad/September Team” to the World Race. Thailand is their first stop on their journey and their passion, excitement and commitment is overwhelming. 26 Racers have landed more prepared than any team I have seen to date and they are ready to take on the world. It has been a joy to walk alongside them and share my experience in a country that has become very close to my heart and introduce them to my friends and contacts around Thailand. I’ve told them I’m a little disappointed they had to start here because Thailand was the best month of WR for me. These guys are stoked, however, and I think each month is going to improve as they go.
They arrived exhausted from their long journey but none-the-less, woke early to jog, have team devotions and get prepared for the day. In my 9 months of WR and even with the welcoming of June team – no one to date has been that disciplined! Team Ignite came from behind to take the win on their first race (Seth & Talia – little “SBJ” didn’t let the family down!). Today they venture out on the Temple Tour of Bangkok – one of the best briefings on Buddhism I’ve ever experienced personally. Chad and I head back to Cambodia today so Allison and Jake are going to get everyone out to site tomorrow (the 20th).
Pray for these new guys. They are already learning the need for dependence upon the Lord. They are already seeing the need for unity. They are already anticipating the challenges ahead and they are committed to the process. God is going to do some amazing work in these guys and I’m excited to see where he leads! Pray especially for Kyle, Mark, Heather and Molly as they lead each of their teams. Pray for Gary Lengkeek who will be traveling with the teams as a coach and guide on this first stage of the journey.
