I was talking to one of my teammates last night and it’s
starting to hit me that I’m in my closure mode.
What you should know about me is that closure is very important.
I hate having things left undone or hanging
over my head.
I am not a procrastinator,
at least not on things that matter.
As it comes to my life, I am in a season of closure.
Thanksgiving marked the first of these events
that propel me one step closer to December 31st.
Finishing seminary was my second and that
happened last night.
That’s right, I’m finished with seminary.
Two and a half years of reading, papers,
research, class, studying when friends were out, reading when (or while) my
favorite TV shows were on, etc. have all culminated in a Masters of Theological
Studies degree from Bethel Seminary.
I
won’t officially “graduate” until June, but all of my coursework is completed.
Several steps are left in my closure season.
On Tuesday I fly home to
Florida until WR starts.
Which means that for the next six days, my
entire life has to be packed up, car sold, insurance cancelled, bank account
transferred, change of addresses given to all the places I’ve worked this year
for tax purposes, saying goodbye to all my friends – basically, craziness until
Tuesday.
But it’s one more step on the
journey.
Christmas follows and then, it
begins.
I like the feeling of completion.
Closure is often hard, but necessary and
ultimately, good.
