I was on the 2nd ever World Race…and here I am helping launch the 13th squad of World Racers to the field.

It’s amazing, humbling, and constantly reminds me that this is what I should be doing right now.  Awesome.  Truly awesome.

I’m hanging with the “L” squad here in Antigua, Guatemala.  I’m sitting in the lobby of our hotel listening to 70’s pop music on an overhead speaker.  I look up to see two dogs sleeping under a table, look out the gate to see the cobblestone walkways and the hustle and bustle of this quaint little town.  This is my 4th trip to Guatemala and while I always seem to get sick here (no seriously LOL) it’s still one of my favorite destinations.

It’s a place where my Spanglish actually seems to work quite a bit.  The people here are incredibly friendly and open to conversation.  The city itself sits in the shadow of 3 volcanoes.  On Wednesday, the entire squad hiked up one of the closest volcanoes, Pacaya, where we roasted marshmallows over the molten rock.  This is a big deal for me because last time I was in Antigua (on my own World Race 2 and a half years ago) I missed this hike because I was sick with strep throat.  Yet, this time, I powered through and got to do the hike!  The volcano is an amazing site, ash and cooled molten rock are a sight like I’ve never seen.  It’s humbling to be near something so powerful, something so volatile and something that has the potential to cause such devastation.  What a mighty God we serve that even the volcanoes are nothing compared to his might and power.
As for the ministry here, the squad of 47 World Racers is one of the best squads we’ve ever sent out.  This morning, for example, the entire group prayed over the sick in their group, interceded for the villages in which they will be serving (and this was no passive gesture, some wept, some declared) and worshiped in a way that truly shook the heavenly realms.   This group is ready to take the kingdom, they have bought in, celebrated, grieved and resolved that they are ready and available for God to come and move.

I can’t imagine a more inspiring life.  Wow.
