Hey Everyone!
My name is Jill Rogers and I am a twenty-one-year-old college student from Georgia. I am currently a Junior Family Services major at Georgia Southern University, where I am very involved in RUF, Reformed University Fellowship. I’m not sure right now what the Lord is calling me to as far as my career, but have been focusing this semester not so much on what the Lord wants me to do, but who He wants me to be, which is more like Christ. This is the overarching will of our Father, for us to be more like Him. I have been learning that there are many avenues to that in this life. One of these avenues has been missions. In 2016, I went on my first international mission trip to Guatemala as a rising college freshman. It was an amazing trip where I learned much about patience and relying on the Lord in the midst of being away from home. When I got back, I quickly looked to trips for the next summer. As soon as I read the ministry bio for the India trip, I was hooked and knew the Lord wanted me to go there. So, in 2017 I traveled to India for a month- a trip that would be a life-changer, a path leading me down a different road than I ever thought. The Lord had given me a heart for the people of Manipur, India. For almost two years, I have been wanting to go back, but it seemed like trials were getting in the way! Little did I know the Lord was stripping idols away from my heart and preparing me for this coming summer. I’m getting to go back and I am so thankful for the waiting period these past couple of years consisted of.
I have a passion for people. I love getting to know those around me and figuring out the best ways they can receive love. I desire to encourage others and spur on those who may be struggling. This life is beautiful thanks to our wonderful Savior, Father, and Friend. He gives us a lens filtered by joy and a heart that can endure. Through this, I will be equipped to pursue this endeavor to go to India, be far from home, away from family and friends.
I cannot wait for this journey!
