Here in Serbia they celebrate two Easters. The first Easter (this past Sunday) is for people who are Catholic. The second Easter (this coming Sunday) is for people who are Orthodox. Many Orthodox churches base their Easter date off of the Julian calendar so that is why their Easter is later. My team and I are partnered with a Protestant Church this month and they celebrate both of the Easter’s.

On the morning of Easter, my team and I woke up to Easter treats (thanks to my teammate, Sarah Ann). She always takes the extra step to make everyone feel extra loved on holidays during the race. We then all got ready and went to brunch as a team. I’m so grateful for my team because we always laugh so much together. We are almost always having fun together.

For the rest of the day, an American missionary couple who moved to Serbia eight months ago invited my team over for food, worship, and games. They are the kindest couple and we really felt at home being with them. They also have daughters back in America who are 23 and 26 years old, so they said it was really special for them to have us over (since my team and I are around those ages).

After spending a few hours with them, we went back to the church to get ready for the Easter service that started at 6pm. During the service, my team and I performed a skit. The skit was about how different sins can seem attractive at first, but ultimately in the end they just end up hurting you. The sins we demonstrated were drinking too much, the love of money, gossiping, and being obsessed with one’s own image. At the end of the skit, we acted out how looking to these things can make you feel good for a little, but only Jesus is the One who can truly fulfill you.

Thank you, Jesus, for giving your life for us! I wouldn’t be able to have a relationship with you if you didn’t give yourself as the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you for changing my life!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
