Pray for This One Guy

So this is the third time that I have had to edit this blog. My team and I have had a huge heart for This One Guy at our ministry site, and because of parts of his story and to protect him and his family, he will be named “This One Guy”. But let me tell you, he is a wonderful guy and I really would like you to pray along with us for him.
“This One Guy” is 30 years old, and works along side the foreman of the houses Hope House is building.  We have all had the chance to work along side of him. Most of the week he has been helping us girls in the missionary house we are fixing up. He has shown us how to wallpaper, lay tiles, grout tiles, clean tiles, paint, and has all done this with a language barrier.
He has been a joy to work with, because even though the language barrier can be very frustrating, he enjoys laughing about the fact neither of us can understand each other. We often just end up saying the words, “yenny penny My-u” (spelling not correct, that’s the phonetic way of saying it), meaning I don’t understand.  He has been so patient with us, and is very good at charades. He uses hand motions, points at tools we will need, and uses sound effects. Some how we usually understand exactly what he is telling us. At least we like to think we do.
Because he has been working with us, and the rest of the Hope House crew, and seems pretty well known around the village, and by the pastor and the foreman, we assumed he knew Jesus too. We just found out that “This Guy” recently accepted the Lord a month or so ago. So he is very new to Christianity, and still not fully walking out his faith daily.
The reason I would love for you all to pray for “This One Guy” and his walk with the Lord, is to bring someone in his life to walk through life with.  He has a tough exterior outside with tattoos and scars that when asked about them, he often replies with hand motions and sound effects meaning, “I don’t want to talk about it, I was drunk”. But we all see right through him and see the love in his eyes, and the joy in his smile.  I see a very joyful man, with a boisterous laugh and a strong booming voice. He has a soft heart, and compassion and love for others.  He has been such a gentleman to us, and making sure we had everything we needed to start a job before he left us to fend for ourselves.
His story is a tough one to hear, involving drugs and drinking at an early age, fighting in a war in the army, jail time, his mother dying, as well as the mother of his child passing away the same year. He has a son, that lives in another country, and who he doesn’t get to see often at all. From what I understand he lives with his sister, and his aunt and has a nephew. He brought his nephew to our VBS in the village every day this week. He would stay there on the side, and watch and listen, and hopefully learn the truths we were teaching the children. I pray that we were teaching him to. I see his nephew, and even some of the other children look up to him, and pray that one day he could be a man of God for these kids to see and follow. He hung out with us as we had a worship session at the foreman’s house the other night, and we even saw him at the church on Sunday. I pray that he can one day be a Godly uncle to his nephew, that he can be a Godly husband to a wife, and that he could be a Godly father to his own children.  But first he needs freedom. I pray freedom, and restoration over him, and my desire is that you will too. I also pray for healing of the hurts in his life, and many people to come alongside of him and his family. I pray that one day, he will fully surrender his fleshly habits and behaviors, and fully live his life to bring glory to God.

Please join me in praying for “This One Guy”.
