Day in the Life – Malaysia:

This month my team partnered with one other team from our squad and was placed with YWAM in Penang, Malaysia. YWAM has their hand in many different ministries here in Penang and we each got to pray and allow God to lead us to the ministry He wanted for us.
This month I was led to volunteer in the Adventist Hospital here in Penang. We helped in the development department helping to raise funds for their heart foundation that helps patients that cannot afford heart surgeries. We also walked around with the Chaplains and got to meet some patients and pray and talk with them.
When we first started to work, we were not sure if we were going to enjoy the month. The days were long, and asking people for donations wasn’t the most fun. But we started listening to God and seeing His heart in the work we were doing, so we made it fun. We began to make relationships with the staff there, we loved surprise visiting the patients we had already met with the Chaplain, and we brought all sorts of instruments such as guitar, a drum, and a harmonica, to set up and play and sing for donations.
God really is our ultimate provider, and at the end of the month we raised 18,500+ RM…which in USD is $6,000+

On Wednesday nights we get to prayer walk the city, and meet with people on the street. Sometimes its women or ladyboys selling themselves, sometimes backpackers just hanging around, or sometimes the homeless. We get to connect with them, and try and build relationships with them and tell them about the hope that we can find in Christ!
