Month 7 of the race our squad is in Nepal. Our team, Team Unveiled was partnered with 2 other teams, and started out in Kathmandu, Nepal.

We worked with a pastor and church planter named Rueben. He was a great host and made us all very comfortable from the start. The first day that we worked with Reuben, he took us to his church in Kathmandu. As soon as we sat down and started worshiping with the Nepalese people of this church, we knew it was going to be a great month. During church many of the youth led worship, and then some of the young girls danced a few dances for us. After the service we were served a “snack” and Chai. The Nepalese people in this church could not stop smiling. I looked around and everyone seemed to be in conversation with someone from the church, or playing with the children.

During our first week we learned that there were two young men, Saroj, and Alan, who would be helping us along the way. They were so sweet, and would help us in any way possible. They showed us around, translated for us at the hospital (sickness all around), and even just made our nights more fun and crazy. They committed their time, to help us feel more at home.

When we started traveling to other villages we noticed that there are more people wanting and willing to help us just the same. Camilla was Rueben’s sister in law who rode to the villages with us. She helped us during travel, helped us translate, and even showed us around, shopped with us, and showed us the house she grew up in and invited us for food.

This same village is where we first met our cooks, and some of our best helpers. We had Predip, and Solomon. They stayed with us most of the month. Cooked us all three meals every day. They knew what we liked, and fed us well. They also made our days better, with the joy they had, and was more than willing to share!

Finally at the remote village we met a couple who helped serve us this month. We were in the village where Rueben, our host, grew up. We stayed in a tree house with his mother and father. They were the cutest old couple, and they were such servants. They wanted nothing more than for us to be happy. Amma (mother) would cook meals, wash dishes, and hit the dog when he bothered us. Pappa (father) would help with the meals, fetch the water from the river, and make us laugh every encounter we had.

This month was one of our coldest months weather wise. There were times where I had to wear 3 or 4 layers to bed. We didn’t have warm showers, or heaters anywhere. We were cold most of the time. The one thing warm about Nepal was the people. They had such hearts for serving us, and serving others. They always would smile and share their love for others in many ways.

This is a big thank you to Rueben, and all his family and friends that helped us this month. We really appreciate all you have done, and will be praying for you all!
