Month 2- Daily breakdown
Just wanted to post a typical day of our ministry this month! We have full days again; every day has something to offer.
This month we are working with a ministry called Hope House International. This ministry provides houses for families who adopt. Their ministry is a bit unique, because here in Ukraine there are a couple of laws about adoption. One is that if you are going to adopt one child and that child has siblings (many of them do), you have to adopt all siblings. You cannot split up children. The other law I found interesting is the size of the house has to meet regulations. There are many families who would adopt, and would adopt multiple children, but their house does not meet size requirements, and they would not be able to afford buying a new house.
Hope House helps with these regulations by providing Christian families with houses that are big enough to house families who adopt at least 3 children at a time.
Hope House has many partners, and they have offices set up in the states for support. When this ministry was started they used to be able to just buy new houses for the families. The founder of Hope House told us that ever since 9/11 happened their housing market skyrocketed. They could no longer afford buying the houses. They didn’t give up though; they now build houses for the families.
We are currently helping build one of the houses while we are here, and also helping with a missionary house, trying to get it set up and ready for teams to stay in while they are here.
Here is a typical day!
