One of the most exciting parts of Unsung Heroes months is getting to go to so many different cities to find contacts for Adventures in Missions. We are gifted with the opportunity to see the culture of different cities, and to see what God is doing all over the country.
After a week of success in Arequipa, my team and I headed to our second city of the month, Puno. After scouring the internet on Saturday night, we found a handful of churches that seemed like promising leads.
On Sunday morning, we headed out in pairs once again to visit the different churches. My teammate Jordan and I headed to a church called Iglesia Cristiana Evangélica Maranata.
We walked into a welcoming atmosphere, and we were quickly shepherded to the front for the service. By the end of the service, Jordan and I knew that this would be a great place for teams to go to in the future.
Through the meetings I had with the main pastor of the Church, Pastor Salvador Tataje Candiotti I got to hear about the vision on the church. Iglesia Cristiana Evangélica Maranata focuses on families, specifically helping to rebuild, intercede, and support broken families. They have 20 different ministries within their church that involve every different stage of life. They have children’s ministry for all ages, youth, young adults, young professionals/singles, married couples, and family ministries. They truly have a heart for helping to strengthen and help to develop healthy, christian families. In addition to these main ministries, they also are involved with the community in Puno though social projects and evangelism.
I can’t wait to see how the Kingdom work of this church is furthered by the help of teams in the future!
