One of my first memories with my precious friend, team mate, and now team leader, Lindy takes place in a tattoo shop. That story in itself is a long story, but the short version is that my first team decided to give ourselves a reminder of the commitment we were making to the Lord, to each other, and to the people we would love and serve throughout these 11 months.

I’m not sure how the conversation shifted, because we were surrounded by nonbelievers, but all I know is it took less than five minutes for her to bring the conversation to Jesus. So there I sat beside Lindy, watching her get her first tattoo, and listening to her share the gospel with such ease that I was astounded.

“Who is this girl?” I thought to myself. She was kind. She was funny. But most of all she was bold, and I admired that in her.

Little did I know that was only the beginning of the blessing she would bring into my life.

Even though our squad has seen two major team changes, Lindy and I have been able to stay together throughout the entire Race.

That means I have been blessed with seeing all of the incredible ways the Lord has been working through her.

I have seen her love children that have been long forgotten by their parents and everybody around them.

I have seen her speak out in the boldness and authority that the Lord has given her.

I have seen her fight for more freedom in her life, and in the lives of those around her.

I have seen her share who Jesus is with countless people, all because she loves Him so much and desperately wants whoever she meets to know Him like she does.

I have seen her face light up when she talks about the dreams the Lord has given her for her future.

I know, without a doubt, that my Race would not have been the same without Lindy to walk beside me.

She has fought for me, even on days I have forgotten to fight for myself.

She has shared her incredible wisdom with me.

She has taught me what it looks like to seek after Him more and more each day.

She has shown me what it looks like to love others well everyday.

There are countless lessons that I have learned from my friendship with Lindy, and I am not done learning from her yet.

Here is where you come in. Lindy still needs $1700 by June 16th in order to finish out the Race. She needs your help to keep her on the field! If you would like to be a part of helping her finish the Race, you can go to www.lindyhickman.theworldrace.org.
