Every once in awhile you meet people who live out what they preach, they give all glory to God, and live out what he calls his disciples to do, to act justly, love mercy, walk humbly, and serve the least of these.

I have found so many people like that here in Lesotho, I just wish that this blog post would do it justice, but I know it won’t.

The fathers love for us runs so deep, it never fails, it never gives up. When we are living in His love, it overflows to others and it’s that love that I’ve seen between the missionaries, children, and house mothers. The love, joy, and radiance that some of these children display despite what they’ve gone through speaks volumes about the type of love that comes from our Father in heaven. The people who help serve these children, so that they can grow more in love with Jesus, is a type of service and sacrifice we rarely see.

I’ve asked myself a million why’s this week,

‘Why did this child have to suffer at the hands of her parents?’

‘Why did this children’s parents not want them?’

‘Why hasn’t anyone ever told this child that they were important?’

‘Why did this child have to fend for himself at the age of 4?’

Why do these children have to suffer with HIV for their entire lives?’

And still, why do these children have smiles after everything they’ve gone through

It all points to the love, the amazing love of our God. Even in the short week that I’ve been in Africa, God has shown me that no matter what else happens, His love remains.

I knew coming into this trip that God would use the very people I thought I was trying to help, to change me more than I would ever change them. And that’s already been proven true. I don’t have answers to those why’s and it wrecks my heart. But, I do have an answer for the reason they still have joy, and that’s our good, good, father. It’s his love, it never fails, it never gives up, and it never runs out on us. Despite my why’s and the circumstances surrounding the people I’ve encountered, the one thing that I’ve seen is that our God reigns and He is good. I won’t be able to answer why these things happened to these precious souls I’ve encountered but, I can see through the children’s lives, and the lives of those who sacrifice to help serve, that His love is true.

I cannot begin to express how blessed me, and my team have been since we’ve arrived in Lesotho. Two months ago I couldn’t even point to this country on a map and one week in, it’s already left a mark on me that I know I’ll never forget. I’m already in love with every child I’ve met and it’s only week one. They are all amazing children, who are so smart, loving, and kind. I’m working with two different ministries here in Lesotho, a children’s house run by the Beautiful Dream Society, and a ministry that takes kids off the street to feed them, and provide them an education.

While at the kids house, we help assist the teachers with tutoring, we get to paint the house, mentor two teenage girls, lead bible studies, and devotionals as well as teach Sunday school and learning about love from the very kids we came to serve.  Our partner ministry takes children who may have not had the opportunity to go to school and give them an edication. Here in Lesotho, it costs money to send kids to high school, so there are many families who cannot afford it. This ministry and the people running it have an amazing heart for the Lord, within the first five minutes of meeting these people, I was more encouraged and inspired then I’ve been in a long time. They are a beautiful example of giving up your life of comfort to serve those who need to know the father’s love. They live out what they preach, because they want kids to know that they have a purpose, their lives have meaning, and they have a God who died to know them.

I wish I could say more about how awesome the people and ministries are but, words just don’t do them justice. God has called me and my team to this place for a reason and I can’t wait to love more on these Lesotho people over the next three weeks. His love never fails, it never gives up, and it never runs out on us, even in the midst of the why’s.

Much love!

ohh, I also got to go hold baby Lions in Africa, WUTT.
