Throughout this year holidays have been extraordinarily special – we spent Thanksgiving in Hong Kong, we spent Christmas in Kenya and we spent Valentines Day in Tanzania. And here we are celebrating Easter in Ukraine – twice! First, we celebrated “Western” Easter last Sunday, April 12, and now we are getting ready to celebrate “Ukrainian” Easter this Sunday, April 19. Don’t ask me why there are two different dates – I still can’t understand that. 🙂 Of all the holidays that I am able to celebrate twice this is the one I would pick – what a great remembrance of the sacrifice that was made for us so long ago.
Last night we helped put on an Easter Student Party/Fair. During one portion of the program they showed a clip from the movie Passion of the Christ. They showed the scene where Jesus is being nailed to the cross. It was a vivid viewing of the price that was paid for me. A reminder of the reason I left life in America – the reason I get out of bed everyday – to live in the freedom that He paid for with His life.
Recently someone was talking about the purpose of blogs – how they are meant to tell the stories of people that can’t tell the stories themselves. The blog isn’t about me; it is about me communicating others stories. And that is just it – it isn’t about me; it is about me communicating the amazing, incredible story of Jesus Christ – everyday, no matter what country I’m in.
It is truly a GOOD Friday!
