I clearly remember the journey of this crazy thing we are calling The World Race … Iet’s take a peek into this past January …
My parent’s were visiting me in Colorado Springs, the town I lived in at the time. They were visiting because I had totaled my car the week prior and they were helping me get things situated with the insurance company, towing company and ll of the other logistical things I wasn’t aware of. After finishing our time at the tow yard I suggested my parent’s and I have a cup of coffee. We went to the cutest, little quaint coffee shop. All of the furniture was antique and none of the dishes matched … in my mind, it was perfect! It was at this beautiful coffee shop that I first told them about the seriousness of me considering the race. I remember my mom saying to me, “Since you’ve never been out of the country maybe you should go on a shorter mission trip first – to get accustomed to things.” I responded, “Go big or go home.” And that has been the motto that has helped shape the direction of my journey.
Last night one of my friends came over and helped me pack my pack. I needed all the help I could get! I used several stuff sacks and compression bags – all of which I highly recommend. Everything had its special compartment and place within the pack. I never knew that packing could be so strategic.

BUT no longer do I want to compartmentalize my life. I don’t want to have church on Sunday and Bible study on Tuesday … I want to walk in the freedom of living in Christ. I want to “go big” for my real home and this is a journey that I have been 100% convinced that it is the place I’m supposed to be. I suppose that is why I have so much peace going into it. I know it is hard to accept – even I have a hard time sometimes, but knowing that the Lord’s has captured my heart has made all the difference.
And now here we are … getting ready to go big … leaving for the Philippines in 26 hours!
