Here we are … October 29, 2008. Exactly one month ago I was
on an airplane headed for Hong Kong thinking, “What am I getting myself into?”
I have since asked myself that question several times and find myself
continuing to ask the question.
I received an email from my squad leader, Allison, saying
that all I had to do was “get on the plane.” By the way is fabulous and
beautiful and amazing – in the fullest sense of all those words. I thought to
myself, “That’s easy, I can get on a plane.” Once I was boarded the plane and
actually leaving everything that was known to me I began to think, “What
happens now … I got on the plane, now what?!?!” Truthfully, I had not even
thought about what would happen once I got off the plane – and never would I
have been prepared for what would happen once I got off that plane. The Lord
has begun to reveal things to me that I never would have imagined. He has begun
to use me in ways I never would have imagined. But more than beginning things
in me He has continued what He started in me the moment I was conceived. He had
to take me off U.S. soil to teach me the things He wanted me to learn. He had
to remove me from what was comfortable and familiar – and boy am I thankful!
As of Thursday night I will be surrendering my computer for
the month of November. We will be leaving Saturday morning for our next month
of ministry in the Big Red Country. Due to the safety and protection of our
local contacts we will not be in communication this month. We will not be
checking emails, we will not be posting blogs, we will not be on facebook.
Although we will not be in communication it does not mean that we don’t need
your prayers. Please continue to pray for us as we go “under the radar” this
month. Pray for team unity. Pray for protection and safety of our teams and our
local contacts. We are extremely excited for what the Lord has is store for us
this month – both in our team ministry and each of spiritual lives. I’ll talk
to you after Thanksgiving!
My sweet sister, Michelle, sent me an email the other day;
it was a brilliant reminder of the Lord’s love for His people. She referenced a
Steven Curtis Chapman song, Yours.
From Michelle:
And I pretty much cry every time I hear Stephen Curtis
Chapman’s new song “Yours” on the radio. Have you heard it? It’s a
great song that talks about how everything in the universe belongs to God
– “every child in Africa is yours” and “And I walk the sidewalks
of Nashville, Like Singapore, Manila and Shanghai” – always makes me think
of you and where God is taking you on this journey this year. I am reminded
that I am His and you are His and He is with us wherever we go!
How true! I am His! She is
His! Everyone is His! And I am humbled that He would choose me as a vehicle of
communicating His love to the world. I can’t wait for what HE has planned!
