I’ve failed you.
At least, that’s kind of what it feels like. Remember me? I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t. (Dramatic, I know.) I’ve kind of been on a blogging hiatus.
Why haven’t I been blogging?
I fell prey to the lie that “the story” was “out there.”
After 11 months of writing about foreign countries, crazy travel, beautiful sights, different cultures, amazing ministry, living out of a backpack, and all things that come with the great adventure called The World Race, what was there to tell about plain ole life in America?
I didn’t deem anything exciting or important enough to share.
Somehow I came under the impression that in order to have a story worth telling, I needed to be on the other side of the globe. I had to have just the right settings and circumstances to make it interesting. I didn’t realize that a story worth telling, the kind we all desire for our lives, doesn’t come from a location – it comes from an the Author.
God is the common thread. The same Father who guided me through The World Race, is the one who takes me through each day. When I choose to seek and follow Him, He crafts each page and every chapter of my story. He’s there for every twist and turn, the highs and the heartbreaks, the nail biters and even the lulls. But He doesn’t just write it and stand aside. When I’m willing to listen, He speaks into every moment, offering His wisdom, insight, and love.
His story for my life, for our lives, has no boundaries.
The story is right here. Because the same God who does miracles in the middle of a rice field in Cambodia, is the one who is at work in our hometowns.
So here’s my plan. I’m going to start asking God to reveal to me the story He wants to write with my life each day exactly where I’m at. And then I’m going to go for it. And then…I want to do a better job of telling you about it.
Because we’re family, and I want to let you in, even when it’s messy or I don’t have it all figured out quite yet.
And because I know my Author writes a good story. And my hope is that by sharing what I’m going through or learning in life, you’ll be encouraged to look to Him for a story all your own.
