Wow! I can’t believe how much the Lord has taught me already and I haven’t even left yet! Holy cow, it’s only been the first month of preparing and the stretching has already begun. He has begun to reveal places in my life that He would have me to grow and places where I just have to let go and trust Him which is not easy for a planner and a fixer to do. I have begun receiving support from some very dear friends and family and collecting the supplies I need to rough it out there in the world for what is shaping up to be an amazing year. I hope to report in my next blog that I can successfully put up the tent that I am currently, honestly, to afraid to take out of the box for fear that this country girl has lived in the city to long to problem solve in the great outdoors. I will keep you posted. Haha The Lord has also blessed me with the opportunity to meet and fellowship with some of the Virginia girls going on the trip who were amazing and such an encouragement as we all prepare to go as one mind and heart.
Some of the lessons, as great as they have been and I know will be, have been hard. Bible study has been difficult to stay dedicated to what with the inconsistency and excuses of the summer and it was recently revealed some personal areas in my life that I need to work through. Because of both of these, I have been reading through a Bible based book to maintain some sort of growth. This concerned me a lot in that I was struggling to maintain my focus in the States and what it would look like to have so many more spiritual battles happening overseas. I realized that in certain seasons, we have to give ourselves grace and allow a worldly mind time to catch up with a heart that is not of this world. In allowing that, the Lord broke my heart in a whole new way of how to cry out to him about people close to me and far away and to interceded for them in prayer. “Stand in the gap” as those I have been walking with and I have been calling it. This has given me such a heart to also pray the harvest and ask the Lord to go before us and prepare the fields for those that we are going to be able to minister to while overseas. An amazing light during this time has been the sweet lady I have had the incredible pleasure of discipling over the past few months. What an amazing thing it is to study the Bible together and get to watch as people’s understanding of who God is and their relationship with Him unfold before your very eyes. What an honor it is to be apart of that.
Know that you all are in my prayers also!
