I was recently talking with one of my family members and I was telling them about my world race trip. They looked at me with that crazy look in there eyes. Everyone knows the look. You know, the one that says, "WHY IN THE HECK ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS!" They continued to tell me how dangerous these countries are and just kept staring at me with "the look".
While I was applying for the trip I had to accept the terms of agreement. Here is a small fragment of it, "I am aware of the potential hazards and risks to my body and property associated with serving in a missions capacity, such hazards and risks including, but not being limited to, injury or death by accident, disease, war, terrorists acts, weather conditions, inadequate medical services and supplies, criminal activity, and random acts of violence." …I am well aware of the dangerous situations I will be in during these 11 months of serving. But I am also aware of the protection I will have from God!
When I started putting things into perspective about how I am supposed to be living my life, It didn't seem to be so "dangerous" anymore. We ARE supposed to go to all the nations and show the love of God, I SHOULD be trusting God with every situation in my life and not be living in fear, I NEED to be living radical and not living according the the worlds standards. These are all things I need to be doing, should be doing, and will be doing.
Yes, I will be going to Thailand where over 80,000 woman and children have been sold into sex slavery and reaching out to them
yes, I will be going to Kenya which is located in the horn of Africa and people are being persecuted everyday for there faith in Jesus Christ.
yes, I will be going to India where it leads the world with the most murders.
yes, I will be going to Rwanda where just 16 years ago there was an estimated of 800,000 people murdered from a genocide in just 3 months
yes, I will be going to Uganda where there is an estimated 1.2 million people living with HIV, which includes 150,000 children.
I'm sure I could find something dangerous about every country I'm going to but it's not about me anymore. Its about reaching out to people and letting them have a chance to experience the love and forgiveness I experienced. So in that case, LET THE DANGER BEGIN!
