This blog is about to get real, I have been giving myself a heart check because my head has been in the wrong place for a while now..so bear with me as I get my feelings and let you know how I have been truly feeling…
To start off, support raising is one of the most stressful and awkward things anyone could ever do. I mean, think about it…
"Hey, I haven't talked to you in awhile but you should give me money so I can leave for a year and travel to different countries…"
"Hey friends at college! I know you are all poor college students, but you should still give me money so I can go on a missions trip…"
"Hey there, I know you don't believe in God, But you should support me financially so that I can go tell everyone about the one thing you don't believe in…"
Support raising just doesn't sound logical. People just FREELY GIVING you money to do something that you love and that you want to do for the rest of your life. Yes, I would love to do missions work for the rest of my life. I would love to live in a third world country and help people and show them the love of God. But that's just the thing. Lately, I haven't been looking at the big picture. All I have been looking at is the $15,000 I need to raise and freaking out about how I'm going to do it! It's almost like I forgot the reason of why I'm even trying to raise money ..because all I'm thinking about is getting the money.
I'm not remembering about the 2.8 million sex workers, including 2 million women, 20,000 adult males and 800,000 minors under the age of 18 in Thailand.
I'm forgetting about the 58,000,000 people in Africa who have never even heard of the name Jesus Christ!
I'm not thinking about the children that are living in extreme poverty that don't have clean water to drink or even food to eat.
This trip is so much bigger then I am. I'm just thankful and humbled that God would choose someone like me to take an adventure like this and be able to bring hope and restoration to these people. The only type of hope I know, Jesus. I want them to be able to experience the same love I got to experience!
