I arrived in Honduras on March 2nd. As soon as I got to my ministry site of the number one murder capitol of the world, I set up my tent because I realized I would be sleeping outside. As much as everyone is gasping right now for how dangerous this is, my thoughts are that I am in God`s will so there is so safer place I can be. Also for our protection, we have 2 police officers with us 24/7. After setting up our tents we met with our contact and he let us know what we would be doing for the next month.and boy oh boy, There is nothing that could have prepared me for this….
The property that I am staying on is called Zions Gate. On that property live 14 street kids. These kids come from all over Honduras. A lot of them come from the garbage dump where they have lived for years behind a dumpster. Some of them were addicted to paint thinners, they robbed people to get what they needed, they had no hope for a future. But through one way or another, these boys ended up at this place and are now going to school and serving in so many different ways. One part of ministry is just to be friends with them, love on them, and serve them, and let me tell you that it has almosty only been a week and I love it so so much! One of the boys, whom I love dearly, is only 12 years old. and everything I described in the paragraph above was him. He lived in the garbage dump, and his brother would beat him up and kick him out until he came back with money so his brother could get drugs with it. Fernando admitted that one of the things he was most ashamed of was robbing a man with no legs and taking all of his money. This is a 12 year old boy. And the sad thing is, this is happening all over the country. It`s not another sad story, this is life.
When I am not with the boys during the day, me and my team travel two and a half hours to the mountains in Honduras and work with an american woman at a house where girls live. In this house are girls that have suffered from rape, incest, physical abuse, ect.. Yesterday I spent the day with a 12 year old girl who was raped by her father and is now taking care of the baby. I also met with a woman where her husband tried to rape her child, and then tried to kill her and the child with an ax. Thank goodness he is now in jail but that still doesnt help what she is going through emotionaly and spiritually. We got to meet with her and her children and set her up with an american family in Honduras that is going to disciple her, give her safe place to live and show her the love of Christ.
Im just letting you know, this is life. This is going on every day, everywhere in the world. Why the Lord chose me to see this and be able to help these people and share with them the greatest hope of all time, I Dont know? But I do know that I am enjoying every moment of it.
April 1st in my next financial deadline of $4,630. If I dont get this money, I get sent home. I truely beleive God has called me on this trip for a reason. to be with these people. To love these people, To give hope to these people. Im asking you to be apart of something big. To be apart of changing the world. To be apart of people seeing Christ for the first time. Yes, I am the one traveling and meeting the people, but the truth is, it could not be done without you and your support! so please, if you feel lead to donate, up in the corner of the page on the left hand side, there is a support me tab! Please donate and share this blog with other people. Stay tuned for more blogs, pictures, and videos…
