Mamelodi is an informal settlement near Pretoria, South Africa (the capitol). It is a community of roughly 2 million people with many needs. Majority of the people live in homes made of scraps and metal with few exceptions. This week we bring them JESUS!

Once again the Lord brings the multitudes to hear about His Son! This week I have been with the oldest crew at camp again…the 13 year olds. They are incredible. Once upon a time I would have said I did not like working with that age. I have tried to tell myself that African 13 year olds are different from the typical American 13 year old, but it is not so much the case. They both crave attention, love, confidence, and purpose.
The differences lie in the fact that these kids are often the head of the household rather than trying to be the head of the household. They live in complete poverty like no American teen could imagine. They crave knowledge about anything and everything rather than taking opportunities for granted. The list goes on…
Yesterday I presented the Gospel story of Jesus Christ to my kids. Never have I experienced power like that before. The Holy Spirit completely took over my mouth creating passion, conviction, and stressed the importance of this moment. They listened and understood each word that came out of my mouth. They completely understood that Jesus died for them so they can have eternal and abundant life with HIM!
“Our team is what?… DYNAMITE!!!”
This week some of my kids have invited me to come into their homes. On Thursday afternoon I will have the chance to meet their parents, siblings, or grandparents, see the reality of their home lives, and allow them to show me where they come from. Pray the Lord uses this opportunity to minister to the families of these kids, continues to work in the hearts of my kids, and changes me… The rest of the week will be spent talking about how God provides and protects!
