Well, I have already been out of Thailand for a month and have yet to post anything as many of you have noticed. The following isn't so much a blog, but rather an update on the ministry I was with and what sort of things they do.  Please take the time to check it out!

Month 3: Thailand (September)

This month our team was placed with ‘Sila Home Ministry’ in Chaiprakarn, Chiang Mai.   We worked alongside the kids at this home and also did some manual labour around the property.  This ministry was a major encouragement to me, to see it thriving and doing so well.  The children here are so in tune with the Holy Spirit that it made me watch their actions and listen to their words in awe.  If you are looking to support a ministry, I would highly suggest ‘Sila Home Ministry.’  Sila Home takes so much pride in their hard work to maintain and even expand the ministry, and in the work that God is doing in them.  If you would like to know more about my personal experience with the ministry you can contact me and I would be glad to share, but below I am going to reiterate the information provided to me.

Sila Home Ministry

“As a ministry we have no political affiliations; but we want to stop human trafficking.  Our aim being to continue to help orphans, the abused, the poor and neglected children of Thailand by providing them with a safe home, food, clothes and an education.  In the future we hope that this will include the provision of an infant home.  We seek to encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of the Christian faith and promote Christian values among our children.  Our aims include a commitment to working alongside other organizations that will benefit others and we desire to promote and cultivate life skills that will enable the children to become responsible members and leaders of their community.”

The Kids we reach out to…

  • children who are in need of an education but have no access to one
  • children at risk of being exposed and ultimately involved with drugs
  • children who are at risk of being sold into prostitution
  • the poor and those whose families are unable to care for them
  • children whose mother and/or father have passed away from HIV, accident or other

Activities and projects currently in progress:

  • providing food, clothing and education, and housing facilities for orphans (free)
  • promote and support education of their choice, vocational or university level
  • consistently provide ethics training
  • We desire to rise up the children at Sila Home to be disciplined, hard working, responsible, honest professionals who make an honest income and are raising families honorably.

[Sila Home ministry also has a new project called ‘Ruth Children’s Home’ which is focused for girls in Thailand involved or at risk of human trafficking.  We want to provide greater opportunities is their lives and prevent prostitution.  Please pray and support ‘Ruth Home.]
