If you search “money quotes” in Google, you will find hundreds upon hundreds of quotes.  Quotes from Sally or Joe from down the street, or quotes from some of the most famous and important people in history.  Why is is that money is such a demanding topic, spoken about so much?  Is it true that ‘money really does make the world go 'round?’ I would like to think not, but the sad reality is that there is much truth to that cliche saying.  It seems that in order to make a difference in today’s society, money is needed.  The problem,  I think is when people begin to make money the center of everything, rather than just a key element.  I would love to deny the importance of money,  because I have seen so much evil come of it…but the truth is, we cannot deny that it is a matter of fact that there is much importance to come with money.  Even the Bible speaks of the importance of money, although the major thing to remember is how Jesus spoke of one’s character in regards to how they handle their wealth.  One example of this I found while reading the other night:

 

1John3:16  We know what real love is because Jesus gave his life for us.  So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.  If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion–how can God’s love be in that person?  Dear Children, lets not merely say that we love each other, let us show our truth by our actions.  Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.  Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and He knows everything.

 

Keep this in mind.

 

Some of you may be wondering why I am writing this blog, what I am trying to get at.  Well, truth is that although my squad is already in our third month of ministry, we are still fundraising.  Just because we have embarked on the Race, does not mean we are fully funded.  The way it works is that we have deadlines every couple of months in which we need to meet in order to stay on the field.  The scary part is that if someone does not come up with the funds to bring them up to a deadline, they will get sent home.  Although, I am still fundraising for myself, this blog is not for me.  I have successfully made the next deadline, praise God.  But, my teammate, friend and sister in Christ Carmella Nicholson has not yet, and is risking the chance of being sent home next month.  This young lady has been called to serve, has been called to the missions field, has been CALLED to THE WORLD RACE.  There is no way that she can leave now.  I know that this is only the beginning for her, but her account doesn’t say so.  In one months time, Carmella needs to support raise for $4,000.  Then after that, she will need another $4,500 to bring her to our last deadline, making her fully funded.  I pray that something will speak to your heart and you will support Carmella in this season of her life.
