“Realize that being different from the world is an asset to your Christian witness, not a hindrance.  When others see you obeying Scripture—when they see you walking in wisdom—they’ll notice you’re not like them.  That difference can create opportunities to tell them about your Savior.  Jesus said, “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 5:16).  Keep walking in wisdom, and let others be attracted to the light of Christ!”
John MacArthur—

I read his quote in a devotional this afternoon.  I think this is something we as Christians need to be reminded of.  Of course this is important to remember on the Race because it is the purpose of this year—to show others Christ’s likeness and to share that with them. But for me especially, I need to be reminded of this when these 11 months are over and I go back home.  Compared to almost every other person I have been doing life with on the Race, my Christian community back home is not a very big one.  Many people in my life do not understand why I live the way I do or why I believe what I believe.  I hope to do as this quote states to use my differences to create opportunities to share about my Savior and my walk with Him.

I am so thankful for this experience.  I am growing more in these 11 months than what would probably take years otherwise.  I will go home having a lot more confidence in who I am and in my identity as a Christian.
