My sister-in-law loves to bake. And she is darn good at it, too. In
fact, the other day she held her own personal chocolate chip cookie
bake-off. I’m not kidding…she sat and toiled over two separate batches
of chocolate chip cookie recipes for hours in order to determine which
one would prevail.

Lucky for me, I got to be a guinea pig 🙂

As it turns out, though, I loved them both the same. One wasn’t
better than the other…just different. They were both created in cookie
form but they each had unique qualities.

I believe that’s how God thinks about us and that’s how He wants us to think about others.

We are taught from a young age to play favorites… Our favorite color… our favorite food…our favorite friend.

But the truth is is that God doesn’t show favoritism. He loves us all
equally. “But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a
sin.
You are guilty of breaking the law.” (James 2:9 NLT). This is New
Testament law, the law that tells us to love God & love one another.

So my challenge to you is to stop playing favorites. Let’s not pick
our favorite season, our favorite color our favorite chocolate chip
cookie… and just appreciate the uniqueness of them all. The less we
focus on favorites, the more we become the people who God created us to
be.
