Cambodian winter is sort of like the last really hot summer you can remember. You know the kind of summer I’m talking about. The one where you can’t crank the AC in your car fast enough to cool it down, so by the time you get to work you’re already sweaty again just in time for you to walk into the office. Well, as you may have imagined, AC is considered a luxury in third world countries like Cambodia, so I often found myself escaping to the rooftop terrace in the evenings before bedtime to catch a fresh breeze and process everything. The view up there was absolutely heavenly.
On my last night up there, it was calm. The air stood still. The breeze was eager but stayed quiet.
I was thinking my experience over the past month and just wanted to enjoy some quiet time. Just me and God. As I prayed and looked out over the city lights, I was thinking

about how much work there is to be done here. I was thanking God for all the work that has been done in this nation in bringing His kingdom to earth and that’s when I felt the calmness of the skies grow restless. This gentle wind blew by and I felt like God was breathing a breath of heaven on me and all over the city. I feel like it was a reminder from Him that even when I leave and my team leaves, God is still the God of this city and His presence is not going anywhere.
Ya know, sometimes it’s intimidating to think that God’s presence is everywhere, but at times like this, it is reassuring to say the least.
