Hey guys! I haven’t had wifi at my ministry site in a few months, so I haven’t had time to blog. But I would like to take this time to tell you about my time in Haiti in 2 blogs.
When most people think of Haiti they automatically think of voodoo, BUT there is so much more.
During my time in Haiti I worked at a home ran by a pastor who took in children from troubled homes. Some kids had abusive parents that he saved them from, one girl was found just walking alone in a voodoo village, and some had families who couldn’t feed them. Our host takes these kids in and gives them a home. He also runs three orphanages. Our main time was developing relationships with the kids in our house.
Every night we didn’t have church we would have house worship and prayer. Let me tell you something…..Haitians are the MOST gifted group of people I’ve ever seen. Almost every person in the house(about 50) could speak more than one language, play an instrument, or sing. Haitians speak creole which is kind of like French, but not really then in school they learn a little bit of French, Spanish, and sometimes English. Most of the time the kids have to teach themselves the other languages. One of my friends in the house taught herself Spanish, English, and French!! If that’s not amazing I don’t know what is! She also had an amazing singing voice. There was also an 8 year old boy who could already orchestrate music, and no one had to teach him!!
During our church services on Sunday mornings we had a orchestra full of young people. There were saxophones, trumpets, clarinets, tubas, and so much more. It was a jazz band that made me feel like I was in New Orleans. The singers were amazing too. I’ve never had worship like it before.
I was blown away by the talent everyone I met had. It was amazing to see people who had been through so much tragedy with natural disasters have so much of God’s grace. God has given the people of Haiti the blessings of many gifts, and He is working in Haiti.
Satan tried to knock Haiti down with natural disasters and makes them think they are low BUT what I saw; was God’s hand on them. God is trying to take them high. The oppression Satan tries to put on Haiti won’t be there for forever. God will take Haiti back, and there will be revival. The more the Haitians step into the people God made them to be the less voodoo will have a hold on this country.
While I didn’t personally see voodo there was spiritual warfare in many different ways that I experienced. I saw it in a school and our church….
