It seems like yesterday I just arrived on this continent. Africa has been quite interesting, and I’ve experienced many new things that I will never forget.

 

Here’s a quick recap of some of the highlights from Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Botswana:

 

-My first time using a compost toilet

-Staying outside(never being in a building) for a whole month

-Sleeping in a tent for a whole month

-Wearing a shitonghay(material wrapped around my waist as a skirt)

-NO wifi for an extended period of time

-Power outages on the reg

-Horseback riding into a lake

-Thinking I had malaria on Christmas

-Taking parasite medication

-Cramming 11 people in a 5 seater car

-Not showering for a week(limited water)

-Jumping off a bridge

-Diarrhea for two weeks

-Seeing Victoria Falls

-Learning what a combi was and using public transportation

-Getting weave. My hair looked fierce

-Speaking at a school

-Kayaking 

-Cliff diving

-Going on a safari

-Eating Nsima/Sudza/Pap/Rape

-Farming

-Shuffling cow patties

-Buying airtime to speak to people

-Cooking in the dark

-Running away from giant beatles

-Learning to say “hello” and “thank you” in various languages

-Getting a chaco tan

-Real authentic African church services

-Sharing my testimony

-Meeting great locals 

-Letting local children braid my hair

-Walking in the rain

-Having a curfew/bedtime

-Seeing various wildlife

-Living off instant coffee

-Making friends with cockroaches

-Sleeping on a bus

-Traveling through two country borders in two days

-Getting my water bottle stolen and then retrieved for me

-Learning African time
