At the beginning of the race, we were given “Keys for the Journey.” The key had a word on it that was supposed to represent something you would wear and carry with you to grow in, while on the race. This word encaptured something you wanted to pursue and eventually ‘give away.’ The gift and word I received was Worship.
Among my time on the race, I’ve tried to learn to play the ukulele and guitar. I’ve been a part of worship sessions that included me playing those instruments in front of others! And even dabbled in a little cajon action. It’s been a blessing to get to join in the worship of the Kingdom of Heaven, and it’s something I’ll continue to pursue after the race.
During this month (#month9), we had Exposure Girls come to stay with us for one month and see what living life on the race was like. Full exposure to community living, travel, sickness, ministry, abandonment, etc.
One particular girl, named Brooke, that joined my team learned that there are different ways to worship than just to sing along with songs… I mean I love that! But worship is so much more than that.
>>> It’s how you live, how you breathe, how you work, how you play, how you worship the Lord God and Creator of this Universe! Our maker and King! <<<
It’s a heart posture toward the One who made this world. You can find Him in nature, in silence, in journaling, in drawing, in prayer, in the Word…you can find Him in anything and everything and He deserves our praise for all eternity!
This key represents just a small glimpse of that. A reminder to worship Him with everything in our being.
Well, I felt a pull in my heart to give Brooke my key, my Key to Worship. I saw her passion for worship and desire to learn more about it. To seek Him in the different ways of worship. I hope she continues to pursue the depths of intimacy and various ways you can worship our Savior. A gentle reminder that He deserves our Praise and Worship!
