I have 15 days left on this journey I call the race! As I transition out of this season and into the next, I’m thinking more and more about all the things I look forward to when I get home. Counting down the days until home, so here’s a list counting down to my number one reason to go home.
15. Movies without Subtitles
I enjoy a good movie, and I’m excited to go home and catch up on shows I’ve missed, without worrying about if they’re in English!
14. Blow Dryer
There obviously wasn’t enough room in my backpack to fit a blow dryer or curling iron. It’ll be fun getting to do my hair rather than let it air dry!
13. Access to My Clothes
Call me superficial, but carrying around the same 5-7 shirts for an entire year can get boring. Im excited to see what’s in my closet again and put on my cardigans, layers, and shoes.
12. Lounging on My Couch
I realized in Month 7 when I visited someone’s home and they had a comfy couch, that I really missed lounging on my couch at home.
11. Laundry Dryer
It’s a rare occasion when I have gotten to use a dryer for my clothes. It’s been hang dry for the norm!
10. Free Public Bathroom
Every where we go, we have to make sure to bring change in case we need to run to the bathroom because most other cultures charge you for the public restroom. Even if you bring your own toilet paper lol
9. Dance Parties
I have been able to use my passion for dance in ministry and with various people from all over the world, but I miss having shuffle dance parties with my church group friends and jump around for joy!
8. Sweet Tea
There’s Coca Cola in literally every country. One thing that is difficult to find is good ole authentic southern sweet tea!
7. Going to the Store by Myself
Going to the store is fun with people, but when you haven’t gone somewhere alone by yourself you miss the freedom. Of course there’s safety in numbers, but I’m so happy to go to any store by myself and not have to tell anyone where I’m going!
6. My Moms Cooking
My mom is Korean. She makes bomb Korean food. Need I say more??
5. My Car
It’s funny to think that a car is one of my top 5, but there is so much freedom that comes with driving. I can go places when I want wherever I want. Public transportation may be more affordable and easily accessible around the world, but I do like driving my own car with the windows down!
4. My Own Bathroom
I’m sure most people love sharing a bathroom with multiple people and continually moving their toiletries in and out of the bathroom every time they need to take a shower, but I’m really excited to have my own bathroom again!
3. My Bed
As much as it’s been fun sleeping in a tent on my sleeping pad, or sleeping in random beds at hostels, I cannot wait to get home to my own bed with my own sheets 🙂
2. Friends
I love my friends and enjoy hanging out with them! I love living life with them and am ecstatic to see their beautiful faces!!!
1. Family
Obviously, my family is my life! I cannot wait to hug and squeeze my nephews and niece! And chat at the dining room table with my family after dinner.
