We’ve reached the halfway point of the Race! Here’s a recap in pictures of the first 5 and a half months of the Race.
Here are our hosts in Côte D’Ivoire, Gregoire and Gisele. They have been reaching out to children in impoverished communities for over a decade. They teach them about the Bible through stories, songs, games, and scripture memorization.
Here is my first team, Rak Pak, with our hosts.
We alternated between a few different communities. This is the one we visited the most often.
Here the program was held at a school.
Here are Calvary and Abigail, our hosts in Ghana. Calvary is a pastor and Abigail is the principal at the school where we volunteered.
This is the group of 9-11 year olds that I taught for the month. Since they speak English in Ghana I was able to teach them anything including math, science, creative arts and citizenship.
Here is my team with the teachers at the school.
Every Wednesday and Sunday my team took turns preaching a short message at church.
Hanging out with the youth group.
In Togo, we preached in different churches all over, as well as teaching at a Bible school.
We stayed in Bangkok when we arrived in Thailand, because the air pollution levels were too high in Chiang Mai, where we originally were going to stay for the month. This month we had ATL (Ask the Lord), and one of the things we did was have Bible studies in a coffee shop.
In Malaysia we taught at a refugee school for Burmese Muslims.
Finally, here is my new team with Chrystine (bottom right), who we met in Indonesia, where we are now. I’ll be writing a blog soon about how we met her.
These have been an amazing five and a half months so far, and I’m excited to see what the second half of the Race is going to be like!
