Hello all!
Last month, we finished up far too quickly in Cambodia with a short trip to Phnom Penh, the capital, and then we returned to Siem Reap for another debrief of sorts. After that, we traveled to our tenth country, Indonesia!
In Indonesia, my team is living and serving in Medan, a city to the far north of an island called Sumatra. Fun fact: we are closer to our hosts in Malaysia than we are to the other teams on our squad; we are a 6 hour ferry ride from Penang, Malaysia, and our squadmates are near Jakarta and Bali! Our ministry this month is with a church and its pastor, Pastor David. We are preaching, teaching, leading English camps, doing children’s programs, visiting members’ houses, praying for the sick, and next week we are leading a revival! Another fun fact: we bought $50 gym memberships for the month and are loving going to the gym, taking classes, and using their western toilets and showers 😉
We are about 6 weeks away from being back in the United States, home for the first time in 11 months, and thrown back into “real life.” Isn’t that wild?? I’ll let y’all know when I will be home once I know that information for sure, but for now, I want to give you a gift!
I have done my best to write weekly blogs and keep y’all up to date on what’s going on in my life on this wild journey, but I know that I’ve missed some things. So here’s my proposition:
ASK ME ANYTHING!
What do you want to know about me, my journey, the countries I’ve visited, the food I’ve eaten, the cultures I’ve joined, the places I explored, the things I’ve learned, the ways God has moved, the ministries I worked with, or the people I’ve met???? Leave all your questions in the comments, and I will answer them in blogs to come!!
Thanks as always for following and supporting my journey!
I’ll talk to you all again real soon!
Jess
P.S. Anyone have friends or friends-of-friends in or around Manila, Philippines?! Do they have a mansion or beach house or fun hostel?! In about one month we will have our final World Race debrief and after, hop on a plane back to the States! We want to plan the best possible final debrief we can and are looking for recommendations for lodging for all 24 of us. There are a few requirements and specifications, but if you have someone in mind who has lodging for 24 people, send me an email at [email protected] or message me on Facebook!
