Hey y’all!

First off, I am sorry for taking so long to update you guys about my trip. Honest to goodness I have been thinking about you! It has been a bit of a whirlwind, and figuring out how to keep up communication without regular access to WIFI has been a bit of a struggle. But worry not! I will figure it out!

I know some of you heard that I tested positive for COVID on the 18th, so I wanted to assure everyone that I did in fact make it to training camp in time to fly out with my squad as planned since I was able to test negative exactly one week later. Thank you Lord!

Now on to the fun stuff!

We landed in San Jose, Costa Rica on Tuesday (the 26th), and I cannot describe the excitement I felt at seeing the beautiful green mountains that surround the airport as we made our descent. We then took a three-ish hour bus ride to our ministry base. (I took Dramamine for the first time and it totally knocked me out, but when I whenever I was lucid enough to look out the window I pretty much gasped every time.)

Our ministry base, Ocean’s Edge, is located in Jacó. (You can check out their website here: http://oceansedge-lifestyle.com/). We are SO blessed to be staying in this location. The base itself is so beautiful, and everything you need is within easy walking distance.

We spent the first full day after our arrival working around the ministry base to help move, organize, and clean various things. Since then, I have been on the team assigned to assist the 11n11 World Race squad (who arrived two weeks before us) with the work they have started in painting a mural on the wall of a local park. This is part of our host ministry’s “art bomb Jacó” project, and already I have gotten to witness the amazing impact of this venture. One of the challenges in ministry is planning ways to engage surrounding people, but with this project the people come to us and ask what we are doing (literally the perfect way to evangelize). I hope to have some pictures for you guys at some point, but for now you’ll just have to trust me when I say the mural is really beginning to take shape 🙂

Anyways, this first week has been a little cray cray with settling in and everything, but it really has been wonderful to partner with those who have already been here ministering to the city and to watch how the Lord is at work in these believers.

Thank you guys so much for your patience and support! It is so comforting to know you have my back. 🙂

Love y’all!
