Hi there! You’ve reached Jessica Mao, or Jess Mao, or JMao’s World Race blog! Here’s a little about me.

Late August baby of ’93.

Born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan; came to the States at the age of 11. Recently graduated with a B.A. degree in Psychology and Social Behavior at University of California, Irvine. Jesus, family, friends, and art/music are the most important things in my life and they shape who I am today. I am passionate about children/orphans and women. Prayer, worship, kingdom, love, teaching, play/have fun, dream, giving and blessing.

10 facts about me:

me, esther, and kathy

  1. I have two younger sisters, Esther, who is a year and a half younger, and Kathy, who is two years a half younger than me. (We are all in college as of this year)
  2. I almost always eat the crust of a sub/sandwich/burger first before I eat anything else. Don’t judge!
  3. I don’t have a middle name. Sometimes I wish I had one.
  4. Going to the beach always turns me into a kid.
  5. I don’t really wear glasses or contacts. But I am able to adjust, or blur my vision by straining my eyes a bit, does that make sense?
  6. I’ve had to move 11 times. The longest period I’ve stayed in a place was 7 years, the shortest was 6 months. Luckily I never had to transfer schools.
  7. I am left-handed. And so are Angelina Jolie and Richard Simmons.
  8. My favorite TV shows are Friends and Modern Family.
  9. I can speak and write Chinese/Mandarin proficiently. I am currently taking Japanese. I can read Korean even though I would have no idea what I’m reading. And honestly, I’ve forgotten most of the French I learned in high school. I’m interested in learning sign language and Hebrews though!
  10. I was baptized in the ocean while I was on my first mission trip to my motherland (Taiwan) in 2010.

 angkor wat, what a beaut

When I think about this journey (the World Race) and just where I am in life, I scream CRAZY!!! Our Father is so good, so creative, so gentle, so funny, and so loving that sometimes I can’t stand it.

My life goal is to know Jesus, the man who died for me and is so beautiful and worthy of my praise.
