Hello!
Just a bit of wifi here at the moment – I can only get 50mb free in town and that’s why I got booted off last week, but this time around I typed it out in my notes so I could copy and paste it!
So our ministry and living situation definitely changed a lot from Panama to Lesotho. So we always get up for our 630am, one mile walk every morning and then hour long quiet time with the Lord. Breakfast at 8 which alternates oats and porridge. Morning ministry is walking 20-25 min into the village to do work such as raking, sweeping (both using a bush branch) dishes, sweeping the house, moping. Then we take turns sharing a passage from the Bible and say what that passage means. Then we break and have lunch around 1pm. Our afternoon ministry for the first 3 days was spending 230-430 in the fields pulling weeds, some of us with hoes but I prefer to just hand pull it cuz I’ve knocked a few corn plants out (whoops)
We sleep on thin mattresses in concrete rooms on a concrete floor. It gets chilly at night and I love it. We have no electricity, no running water, and no wifi. We take bucket showers but trust me after an afternoon in the sun out in the field that cold water feels good to pour on me!! We eat pbjs and sandwiches for lunch and then some of the dinners here are SO delicious- beef stew and rice and some form of beef strongoff was REALLY good. We are suppose to get pizza I think tomorrow night!
I’m always dirty, my feet are always covered in dirt. We have Mama Faith who cooks for us and her little girl is just so flipping cute to have around and play with. Our host, Peter has a couple teenage boys here and people are always playing games with them and including them in our adventures.
Tomorrow I’m gonna go hike up to the waterfall. We are surrounded in mountains, it’s absolutely gorgeous!
This is the month it has hit me that I’m not going home anytime soon. Have 7 more months after this. This is the month I’m missing my familiarly foods and meals I eat at home. This month I realize how everything we have is such easy access to what we want to eat and we can do whatever we want. This is my 3rd month in a row we are in the middle of nowhere with no stores nearby.
Lastly some news! In a couple weeks we are having debrief and our coaches and mentor is coming to South Africa and we will meet them for 4-5 days. We get teachings and such and spend one on ones and chat. I also found out we are having team changes!! No longer will be Daughter Zion after 2 weeks. I’m a bit sad and down about it but I’m working big on finding my peace in God and trusting His process. I can hope and wish but God has a plan for whoever I’ll be on a team with next month.
Thanks for reading through that long post! It makes up for the short one last week! 😉
