Hi Everyone!
I hope you are all having a great week! I wanted to update you on some details I received for the mission trip to Puerto Rico that I am going on this June.
We are partnering with a local church, Iglesia Bautista Raham, where we will be helping Pastor Francisco with construction projects, visiting local homes to hear people’s stories, and doing kid’s ministry. The church is located in Guayama, on the southern side of the island. The city is known as “La Ciudad Bruja” (Witch City), so clearly God’s work is needed there! 😉 From what I could find online, “The nickname has its roots in baseball and witchcraft. In the early 1900s, the Guayama baseball team had a popular pitcher called Marcelino Blondet, better known as Moncho El Brujo, because he was the son of a local medicine man.”
So far, we have a team of 12 consisting of people from Missouri, Virginia, Florida, California, and New Jersey. Two of the members have roots in Colombia and Ecuador, so I won’t be the only Spanish-speaker, yay!
My roommate just got back from an Air Force trip to Puerto Rico where they worked on a school doing plumbing, electrical and fixing the leaky roof. It was awesome to see her pictures and videos of the hard work they did, the beautiful beaches, and lots of stray horses and chickens. On an off-day, she paddled through a bioluminescent bay, coooooll!! It got me even more excited to go.
I am over halfway to reaching my fundraising goal, YAY! Thank you all for your generosity and support as I serve around the world! If you would like to donate, please do so below, thank you!!
