We left for ministry on Thursday, the day after Valentine’s Day. Oriolyne and I stayed outside the dance bars; we roamed between the two and prayed over each.
As we sat at the first, two young girls walked by and said hello. They stopped, told us their names, and started walking away. One girl, Kopeela, turned and looked at me; she then came to me and shook my hand. She had a beautiful smile. They walked away.
After more prayer and intercession, Oriolyne stated, “Let’s go to the other bar now.”
We walked the short distance and found a place to sit at the base of the stairs. The alley was dark, and many groups of people walked by. We continued praying.
And there they were: the two girls that we just met! They were walking towards us and sat down on either side of us. Kopeela stared at me with her soft smile and a sparkle in her eyes. With broken English, we talked to the girls for almost an hour. We think they are homeless by how they dressed and where they lived.
Kopeela laid her head on my shoulder as I held her hand. I prayed for her as she sat in my embrace.
Before they returned home, we pulled them into the light and snapped a few photos with them. Kopeela and I exchanged bracelets, and we prayed over them as we gave them each a hug.
Oriolyne and I started to walk away; I turned to look at them, and Kopeela held out her arms. I returned to give her another hug, and she embraced me and kissed each cheek.
My heart jumped! A soft little kiss by a girl who spoke very little English in Nepal—a girl that had no house to live in, no clean clothes. This little girl gave me her trust and her love!!
As they walked away, I felt the Lord say, “Happy Valentine’s Day. I didn’t give this to you yesterday because My love is not bound by a day in February. My love is daily!”
